What is CODEX, and how do clients use it in sessions?

CODEX lets your clients upload documents (contracts, P&Ls, resumes, case files, anything) before or during a session. Your protégé reads those documents in real time and references them in conversation. This is our higher-fidelity add-on, priced at $49 per month or $399 per year. It's how document-heavy sessions go from "talk at you" to "work on your specific situation."

The problem this solves

A baseline session is voice-only: the client talks, the protégé talks back. Great for general questions. Less great when the client says "can you look at my Q3 P&L?" or "here's the contract the other side sent me."

Without CODEX, the protégé has no access to the document. The client reads sections aloud, or worse, tries to summarize. You lose the fidelity that makes the session useful.

With CODEX, the client uploads the document once. The protégé retrieves relevant sections in real time as the conversation progresses. The session works on the client's actual material.

How it works

  1. Client uploads before or during the session. Drag and drop on the session page. PDF, DOCX, TXT, MD, HTML, audio (MP3/M4A/WAV/OGG/WebM), and video (MP4/M4V).
  2. Secure, per-client storage. Documents are stored in the client's scoped storage bucket. Not shared with other clients; not added to your KB.
  3. Real-time retrieval. During the session, your protégé uses the same vector-search architecture (patent #3) against the client's documents.
  4. Referenced in conversation. The protégé can quote directly from the client's document, cite sections, compare clauses, or whatever your methodology calls for.
  5. Auto-purge. Documents expire on a 90-day default. You can adjust.
  6. Session transcript preserves context. The transcript records which documents were referenced and the passages quoted.

How to turn it on

  1. Upgrade to CODEX at $49 per month or $399 per year (annual saves ~32%)
  2. Enable CODEX on the protégé(s) where you want it available
  3. Add the session description text that tells clients they can upload (we provide default copy)
  4. Done. Clients see an upload option on the session page.

FAQ

Is CODEX a required add-on? No. Every protégé works fine without it. CODEX is for experts whose sessions benefit from the client bringing material.

Do documents get added to my knowledge base? No. Client documents are scoped to that client and auto-purge. Your KB is your content.

What happens to documents after the session? Default: auto-purge at 90 days. You can configure shorter (for sensitive verticals) or longer.

What file types? PDF, DOCX, TXT, MD, HTML, audio (MP3/M4A/WAV/OGG/WebM), and video (MP4/M4V).

What about privilege, confidentiality, or regulated data? Documents are stored in US GCP regions with per-client access control. We are not HIPAA- or SOC 2-certified yet (see §security roadmap). Experts in regulated verticals should review the data-handling policy at /security before enabling CODEX.

Is there a size limit? 100MB per document; no cap on document count per client.

Does it work for voice sessions too? Yes. The protégé retrieves from the client's document set during voice sessions the same way it retrieves from your KB.

Can I charge clients for CODEX directly? Not yet. It's an expert-level subscription. Clients don't see the $49/mo line. Experts using Expert Pays or Client Pays billing incorporate CODEX value into their pricing.
